Caffeinated Randomness: Better late than never

It’s been a week.  No need to go into it, cause it would involve a lot of whining.  It started with the plague  hitting everyone in our house, and ended with my hip hitting the ice as I slid under the truck.    And those are just the most memorable parts.

So because I am still trying to catch up, my mind is not co-operating with me writing a post right now.

This is the Christmas picture that I planned to post just before Christmas.  But then my computer died, and you know the rest of the story.   123

Come back next week when I actually post something with some thought put into it.

Happy Friday!

Caffeinated Randomness:Random Happiness–updated

Updated to add:

I wrote up this list, hit publish, and then popped over to Andreas to see what she’s up to (hope your knee,  and your finger feel better soon!), and discovered that she’s got a random Friday thing!  That’s what happens when you’re without a computer for a while, you end up not knowing what’s going on!  And that means I need to add one more thing to my random happiness list-

-a reason to be totally random on Fridays!

-a sunny day

-the first day of Spring

-having my kids back home from their grandparents

-getting high-speed hooked up tomorrow (yup, it’s true, I’ve had dial-up for years!)

-the sugar cookies that I’m going to make later this evening

-a (semi) clean house

-clean sheets for bed tonight

-hearing I love you Mommy

-clean laundry folded and ready to be put away

-the purging that M. and I have been doing this afternoon in her room

It’s been a full day, a good day.  I’m so looking forward to relaxing with the gang tonight.  Making cookies, and just hanging out.   It was nice for the kiddos to spend a  few days with their Nanny and Grampy, but it’s even nicer to have things back to normal again!

Even though the noise level here dramatically rose as soon as they walked in the door.  😉

Be sure to pop over to Andrea’s for more total randomness.

I’m back!

Did you wonder where I went? My computer decided to take a vacation. It just up and quit. Turns out the hard drive crashed. Quite a process to get it up and running again, but I know that you don’t want to listen to my whining!

I can’t wait to catch up with all of you!

A List……

………of things that are making me happy–right now!

-snow falling outside.

-a snow day for the kids.

-Christmas music playing.

-what seems like an end to the stomach bug that has been plaguing us.

-soup for lunch.

-a stack of  homemade Chrismas cards sitting on my desk, with only one thing left to finish on them.

-the two Cricut cartridges that will be waiting for me under the tree.

-and that I got them for only $40.00 each at Michaels a few weeks ago!

-finding a perfect gift for someone.

-a crackling woodstove.

-finally being caught up on the laundry.

-this season of celebrating our Saviour`s birth.

-that my kids totally get the real meaning of Christmas.

Round #2….

…….or is it 3?  I can no longer remember.

So, it’s 7:30 on Saturday morning, I’ve been up since 5:00, the first load  of laundry is in the dryer, and the second one is all done spinning, and is waiting for its turn in the dryer.  My bathroom floor is scrubbed, and the toilet has been scrubbed as well.

You guessed it–another kid with a barf bug.  (Can you tell that I have sons, cause that is totally what they would call it.)  🙂

Oh, and did I mention that I only got home at midnight?  Yeah, it’s going to be a long day.

Okay, enough whining from me!

On a more positive note, we had a blast at our supper for the Awana leaders last night!  Lot’s of food, lot’s of laughs, lot’s of fun!  Lot’s of food……I don’t think that I’ll need to eat all day.  🙂

Well, I hear the little one stirring, so I’m off.

Have a happy Saturday!

The run is over…..

Ray and I are both in our 30’s.  We have 3 kids who are 9, 6 and 4.  None of us have ever had a broken bone.  (Which is rather amazing considering 2 of our kids are boys who are always jumping, climbing, running, and just generally moving!)

Until now.

Ray has broken his baby finger.  And honestly, to end a run like that, you’d think it could be something more exciting than just a baby finger.  That being said, I’m also very thankful that all he broke was his finger.   He actually did it back the first weekend in November, but only just had x-rays done last week.   He broke a chip out of the tip, and broke it from the end to the first joint.   It’s called a triangular break.  Course, there’s nothing that can be done except continue to tape it.  Oh, and not play soccer until it’s healed, like that’s going to happen!

He broke it playing keeper in soccer.  Well, not really playing soccer, just during the warm-up.  On his first night.  (Oddly enough, I find that quite funny!)  And he’s been back every weekend since, of course!

Incidently, none of our kids have ever had stitches, either.  Another amazing feat, considering the falls that they’ve taken.

Monday morning rambling

So it’s been pretty quiet here in my little corner of the blog world for the past few weeks.  Although, since I did go silent for over  a year, it shouldn’t be too surprising!  I’ve been struggling trying to figure out what kind of space I want this to be.  A light-hearted, fun place?  A deep, spiritual place?  All about my kids?  And then I realized–all of  the above.  I’m a Mom, so you know that I’ll talk about my kids.  I’m a Christian, so I need to talk about my Jesus.  I enjoy life, so I need a place to share those funny, light-hearted moments.   So, it’ll be all of the above, just as it was before.  My place, to talk about whatever’s on my mind.  Why I even needed to have that discussion in my mind with myself, I’m not sure, but for some reason I got it in my head, so I had to get it sorted out.  Oh yeah, I’m deep, all right!  🙂

I’m so excited today.  It’s Monday morning, and my desk is clean!!  My desk is in a corner in the kitchen, and especially over the weekend, it becomes a throw-all place for, well, everything.  It usually takes a few days to sort through everything that’s piled there, but today, it was clean before 9:00am.  With the exception of  a recipe book opened to the recipe I’m going to try for the kids for lunch, a few things left to be delivered from the kids school fund-raiser, and a couple of things I picked up for a friends baby that need to be put together with her gift.  (Yup, Jenn, you!)

And not only is it clean on top, it’s organized inside.  When I unpacked from the scrap-book retreat last weekend, I organized everything so that I can find everything.  And I have a big list of things that I want to get done before Christmas.  Mostly Christmas cards, and  gifts, so before Christmas is obviously the time to do them!

Today, I’m catching up on the laundry that I put off all weekend, and getting our outside winter stuff sorted out, since it’s calling for snow tomorrow.  And trying to get the house back in order after a week long bout of the stomach bug which finally (hopefully, please, please!!) seems to be settling down.  A stomach bug which the kids haven’t even caught yet, so you know as soon as I get everything back in order, they’ll get it, and I’ll have to start all over again!

One more thing, be sure to pop over to my dear IRL friend Shannon’s,who has asked a question about the rapture.  I’m still formulating my answer, so I haven’t commented yet, but I’m looking forward to reading everyone else’s answers.

Happy Monday Everyone!
